"Transforming some miniatures is ok, but an entire army is craziness"

Done! This small army is the result of two main drives: learning about the existence of the Kongo Kingdom (an indigenous christan realm born in the 14th century in what is now Angola) and a desire to have some natives to use in my projected Loango Campaign.

¡Acabado!

I started by making some research, and fortunately for me the kongolese are ethnically the same people as the zulu. In fact, they seem to even share some cultural traits like their leaders' feather headgear, which meant i could use WF plastic zulus for this ones. Unfortunately, there were two main differences: most of them used to fight as bowmen, and they wore fabric loincloths instead of animal skin thongs, so i had to putty both their bows and their clothes! There was almost no info on the shields, so i used the ones from the zulus (which seem to be close to the real ones used in the area notwithstanding). Aside from that, i opted to paint them fast and dirty - i'm on thight schedule nowadays.

Do you see the noblemen's feathers next to the door?

As i wanted to make it as real as possible, i modelled one "special character": king Joao I, founder of the kingdom, based in the following painting:

So i went on to use some putty, modelled a sword using Kevin Dallimore's Foundry book (thanks Pentaro!), resulting in this:

The coat of arms is that one, truly! See it down here!

Now it's time to get this guys to the field. Long live to king Joao I of Kongo!

¡Larga vida a Joao I del Kongo!
